new blog for research into pigments

my main blog 'beneath the surface' is a bit of a melting pot of anything and everything that inspires and interests me, so i've created this one here to collate all my research into the colours of cornwall. i have been researching the historical use of pigments in cornwall as well as the vast array of coloured earths, clays, shales, slates, rocks and minerals found in this beautiful county. this involves clambering around the cliffs, investigating  landslides, examining spoil heaps, talking with geologists, historians, archaelogists, museums and galleries as well as trawling the internet, out of print books and libraries.  i hope to continue to do this by foot and bicycle or public transport where necessary. i think i've set myself a life time's work but my passion is colour, cornwall (and cats!) so that's ok!
